Cleaning after using
Given that the type of harp I use are the special 20's....is there any spray or cleaning method to be used after each use ?
I saw that you had recommend the ultrasound bathe / with the Mis T solution...this seems to be a lot to use after each use.
The there a spray that can cut down on debris and bacteria ?
Also some of the reeds seem to be sticking on me... I figure perhaps I am drooling to much ( gross) or perhaps this is normal.
That is why I thought that perhaps if I a applied some type of solvent / cleaner / disoinfectent after each use it may
eliminate this issue. I accept that there are ' disposible intruments ' , therefore I cam OK with the long term effects of
corrosion because I will probably replace it when that happens...meanwhile it woiuld be nice to use it with out any debris
with in creating stickiness and odor.
Thank you for your time
Steve
Hello Steve, Good to hear from you.
Joe's tip works well.
I recommend after "every"play, knock the mouthpiece onto the heel of your inner palm (or upper thigh). This will remove most of the saliva and moisture created by breath aspiration. Next spray Roche'-Thomas Mi-T-Mist (used by horn players for their mouthpieces) into the holes and surface of the mouthpiece. Mi-T-Mist contains 70% Proponal by volume, and will evaporate quickly. This will santitize your mouthpiece, while leaving your harmonica smelling and tasting minty fresh ;o)

Just run hot water through it under the faucet. Shake-blow-draw to dry it out while it's still warm.
