7 Positions in One Scale - Part 3 (3rd Position)

The second of the seven positions starts on the 2nd Scale Degree of the Major Scale and is called 3rd Position... this is playing in the key D on the C Harmonica. The Mode created is called the Dorian Mode.

This position was historically used to play in major, but as the years went on players learned that it's a great position to play songs that cross our paths in minor. We love 3rd Position for really dark blues, minor blues and major jump and swing blues (the same general way we approach the chromatic harmonica in a jump blues).
