Andy Santana
If you don't know about Andy Santana, start with David's interview at https://www.bluesharmonica.com/andy_santana . Then check Andy out at https://westcoastplayboys.com/home .
And now the really important part: Andy is suffering from very serious health problems. There's a GoFundMe site organized by Mark Hummel, and Mark's also organized some benefit concerts for Andy. E.g., if you're in NorCal, the next opportunity is in Vallejo, October 9th. See https://markhummel.com/tour-dates
Last night Mark put on a benefit show here in Sacramento, with an all-star cast of blues musicians. Too many to name, but among them, Tommy Castro, Bob Welsh, Anson Funderburgh, driving up from Ventura CA, RJ Mischo, and Florida-based Terry Hanck. Plus lots of more local stars. Four hours of amazing music.
Andy was there in person, and while some of his issues are affecting him on stage, he's still a great musician. RJ brought him on stage for two numbers, and it brought down the house.
All of the musicians had stories about how Andy had helped them, personally, and career-wise. I wouldn't say I'm close to Andy, but we've crossed paths numerous times, and I've found him to be one of the most outgoing and generous musicians you'd ever hope to meet.
Hope you can join in helping him.
