Line 6 wireless relay G30
Hello Harmonicats,
I found a wireless solution for those of you who enjoy bullet mic type playing, but feel restricted with cables.
Line 6 known for it's modeling amp technology, recently released their line of wireless (guitar) system. The Relay G30 and G50 are in stomp pedal form factors, and the G90 is rack mountable -- the higher the series number, the farther the wireless range.
Unique to the Line 6 units is "compander free" technology. According to the Line 6 web site, "Companders squash your signal and ruin your tone. Analog wireless systems require companders but Relay wireless systems do not. Remaining compander-free enables Relay to deliver a beautiful high-end sparkle, thunderous low-end punch, and touch response that analog wireless systems simply cannot deliver".
I purchased the G30 (up to 100' range) and had fun test driving this wireless relay in my studio (aka HARPMSITH shop). I ran this through my Sonny 1, as well as the '59 Bassman RI (w/ and w/o Danecho). Compared to my cable sound, the sonic degradation that I heard was slight, and I don't expect this to be an issue on the (loud) bandstand -- we'll see.
Oh, one more thing, I found the G30 sounded better with the Cable Tone Simulator feature disabled.
