MARINE BAND University is now in session! (Ep10)
Hello Harp Techs, a special shout out to you dedicated and patient members! The most popular topic here at the Harp Tech Forum is about the Hohner Marine Band harmonica. It has been noted that customizing the classic 1896 Marine Band model is a benchmark thesis program--a rights of passage for the serious Harmonica Customizer. "If you can build a world class 1896 Marine Band that looks good, feels comfortable and plays terrific; going forward--tackling other harmonicas will be child's play ;o)
We are releasing Marine Band University into four distinct parts over the next few months. Today you can enjoy Episode 10:
- Disassembly; cool tools to handle those pesky nails (brads)
- Drill and tapping reed plates to replace nails with sustainable machine screw fasteners
- Improve comfort to the mouthpiece by sanding the corners off the tines
- Sanding circular saw blade striations and flat sanding the Pearwood Comb
- Finish the comb with super durable Polyurethane for composite air-tight results
