NHL Day 3 & Canterbury
Day 3 at the NHL event in Bristol was a mellow one... most slept in after the Saturday evening (and morning) festivities. There were some more workshops and meet-the-artist sessions at the Folk House as well as a chance to say goodbye to everyone. Thanks to Roger Trobridge and all of the other volunteers of the event for the invite, a very warm welcome and a very well run event.
Brendan Power was kind enough to help me traverse the train and tube system and then show me an evening in his home town, Canterbury... thanks Brendan and Laura... what a beautiful city. Next I'm off to London for a day of history and dinner with killer blues harp player Lee Sankey.
Your tip of the day...
When throwing a harp in your pocket for an evening when you may think you'll get up and play, the A Harmonica is the most common (band key of E), but if you have more room in your other pockets add your C Harmonica as well. With these two harps you have the keys of C, G, D (1st, 2nd and 3rd Position on the C Harp), A, E and B (1st, 2nd and 3rd Position on the A Harp) covered... these are the most common keys called on the bandstand. Think about some other possibilities with other harmonica combinations.
