Scales - Part 4
Let's put it all together...
Step 1 - Memorize the scale of focus, ascending and descending
Step 2 - Get to know each range of the scale very well (this is more affective than trying to apply the entire scale across the range of the instrument)
Step 3 - Get to know how each note in the scale relates to the chord you're playing over (use a jam track)
Be creative and try patterns such as playing three notes of the scale ascending and then backtrack by one note and then play three ascending again, then backtrack a note, etc. This creates interesting patterns... some patterns are affective and some aren't. It's this experimenting that builds speed.
Have fun and give yourself time to absorb this... this can easily take three months of 20m a day focus to dial in well. Just think what you'll be able to do after three months though!
