A SUPER GLUE BONUS
This week's MIC MORSEL offers-up a couple uses for our old/new friend, "SUPER GLUE" (a trademark name for cyanoacrylate glue) that I can assure you aren't in the factory promo material.
1) Harpmic jockeys that choose mic cables covered in tweed or other woven materials often find their stylish wires start losing their composure and fraying around their connectors after a few tours of duty. "SUPER GLUE" -let's call it "CA" in fairness to the other brands- has the ability to join loose fibers together, very much the way fiberglass resin joins the strands in fiberglass fabric together to form a single structure. Just a dab of the CA's thin variety will quickly solidify the fraying fabric at the crucial points of contact and keep it in place. PLEASE NOTE that wherever the CA penetrates, the covering's flexibility goes 'bye-bye', so be careful (and don't inhale) during applications.
2) If you're SURE you've got that gasket where you want it, a couple CA tack points will keep it where you put it. CA's ability to bond rubber to metal is remarkable.
3) CA can be used to snug-up the fit of worn set-screws in grills and connectors -just don't over-do it!
