WEEKLY MORSEL: A SIMPLE FIX...
WHAT? No sound, no signal -or maybe just a big BUZZZ from your modified BULLET?
Many's the time a tin sandwich jockey's plugged-in his weapon of choice and found ZIPPO coming out of the amp. Aside from tempermental crystal elements that WILL fail for no apparent reason, there's usually a very simple if not immediately obvious reason having to do with an internal "grounding-out" or disconnect of the signal path within the mic's body. For harpmics with installed volume controls the first point to check is whether the potentiometer (the actual volume control mechanism) has become unseated. This can result in either an un-grounding of the "pot" -which can produce that old familiar 'BUZZZ', contact between one of the "pot's" wiring terminals and the mic's shell -causing no sound at all (an electrical 'short' or grounding-out), or the disconnecting of one of the three wires leading to the "pot". CHECK: If the volume knob turns a little too freely or simply spins in circles, you'll want to check inside to confirm your suspicions. Need help? Let me know. I'll be your seeing-eye mic dog...
