1-big thing: The 5 "S"
During the 90's my company serviced SOLECTRON (Milpitas, CA). Posted everywhere were the operating principles, the 5 "S".
Why it Matters
Founder/CEO Roy Kusomoto created this unifying battle cry for workers and managers alike--in doing so, SOLECTRON was able to build a solid reputation of high quality design and manufacturing. Many of Silicon Valley's nascent technological products (such as the HP Printer and Tivo recording devices were made here).
I recommend you download/print out the 5 "S" and post it prominently on your workshop wall. Yes, I review these principles daily ;o)

Your HARPSMITH, Kinya
Thanks Kinya! I've printed a few hard copies to tape up in those places where I tend to leave things instead of cleaning them and putting them away. If I could faithfully observe The 5 S's it would probably do wonders for our marriage. (!) But making a new habit takes a while. I'll get a report back to you later this year.
Thanks Kinya. Today I actually put something away in the kitchen. An hour later, the Missus sez, "Didn't I ask you to leave that out for me?" Oh well.
At times, it helps to have a prominent reminder. I'm in the process of applying just such a "clean-out" and reordering of my work space and study space and this is about to be printed off and given pride of place!
Here's to an orderly week!
Joel
