Af Af Bt in Study 1
When we get to the Af Af Bt chorus form your challenge to me is to make up fills. In the earlier Af Af Af I'm given some specific examples. I like the repetition of the chorus form but find the fills to be more interesting. As a beginner I'm not sure where to find fills from what I've learned so far. What I'm playing doesn't sound anything bluesy like yours do on the video even though I know you're not reaching very far. Any suggestions about how I can find fills that fit other than the specific examples given in Af Af Af? Thanks!
Good morning SmokeJS. Fills are licks, just like the other licks you're playing in the Chorus Form process, but usually shorter. Print out each of the study songs you've done so far that are similar in feel to the track you're playing to. Listen to each of their recordings and circle in the music notation any small lick that sounds good to you. Use those licks for your fills. Your challenge is to fit them in, and in many cases some modification will be needed, which is a normal part of the process. Have fun with this, it's a very creative process.
