Alternative to The Amazing Slowdowner on Linux
Hello,
I will soon get a computer with Linux on It and It seems that The Amazing Slowdowner works only on Windows.
So my question is : Would you know if there is an alternative to this program on Linux ?
Thank you
Audacity should do the trick.
I have been using audacity for seven years but suddenly it freezes when recording same on all three computers. Suspect this is a Win 11 compatibility issue. Having said that it would still do the job for you with remaining features.
I also use Linux. In place of The Amazing Slowdowner I use an application called "Play it Slowly".
It's available in the sofware repository of some Linux distributions. Maybe not as polished as The Amazing Slowdowner and doesn't appear to have been updated for a few years, but it gets the job done.
The website also has a link to a web based alternative http://29a.ch/playitslowly/
This will work on Chrome on Linux, and in my opinion it's better than audacity for practicing the lessons or slowing down songs in YouTube.
I am a Linux and CrOS user and i have audacity installed on my machines, but rarely fire it up for practicing, I found this extension much more convenient to use. I only use audacity if I need to make my own file to play it somewhere else (CD/mp3 player).
I have, for example, used this extension to change the pitch on David's lessons so I could follow along using a harp in a different key (eg when learning "Sonny's Bird" on a low F harp, while the lesson is recorded using a low C harp).
On Android, not on desktop Linux, but just in case it helps, I used Harmonica Tuner which did the work for me and it's free.
The ASD also works on MacBrook Pro. You will find this program essential for learning Dave's various lessons Good Luck. Enjoy the journey.
