Amp humming noise
I have the Windy City 8" 5 watt amp and have recently noticed a low volume 60Hz hum. I have checked with clean power, ground with nothing conected and hum stays consistant. Not effected by swithches, volume or tone. Should I replace the Tubes? or is there a test I can perform to issolate the issue?

You know Skip I asked myself the same thing and can’t be sure it hasn’t always been there. When I noticed the hum it was in a very quiet room but now that I have heard it I always hear it..... I ordered a new tube and will try that. Can’t hear it while playing or in a recording so I guess I’ll live with it if the tube doesn't solve the issue.

Most amps have an ambient buzz...as long as it's not heard on recording, or in live performance, which you said it's not, then you're fine.

Hello Brian- Thanks for writing. First question: Is the hum new or has it always been there since you have owned the amp? It is quite possible that the hum is just the way it is. Amps with one power tube often have a certain amount of background hum. The only thing I might try is a different power tube.
If the amp used to be quieter then I say it could be quiet again.
