Anniversary of sorts
This week I start my 11th year here on Bluesharmonica.com. Started 10 years ago 'cause I was interested in the harmonica, and enjoyed watching all of David's interviews with other musicians. Then about six years ago I started to get serious. E.g., practicing daily (at the expense of practicing other musical instruments - my guitar pretty much gathers dust these days), and starting the LOA series.
Along the way, an amazing journey. With - I'm sure - lots of fun challenges in the years ahead.
So ...
How long have your been around here, and what has your experience been like?
Congratulations, Rob. I've been a member here for almost 18 months and enjoying the wonderful lessons that Dave has built.
I picked up the harmonica in grad school back in the 70s and used the pucker embochure to play a few folk songs and sea shanties by ear. Career and family intervened and I dropped the harmonica until August 2022 when visiting an old friend in Maine. I decided to get serious about learning to play and bought Winslow Yerxa's "Harmonica for Dummies" book where I learned about, and was intrigued by, tongue blocking.
I eventually found my way here and have slowly worked my way thorugh the first three LOA. Currently practicing about 1.5 hours each day and considering buying a small applifier and bullet mic to explore amplified harp playing. At age 73 I don't see myself playing in a band, but am certainly enjoying the challenge and the journey.

Congratulations Rob. I enjoy reading your posts. We are in the same club. I started over 10 years ago and my next goal is LOA 9. The journey has been part of my life. I am not part of a band or even consider myself a musician yet every time I paly harmonica I enter a peaceful state. Kudos to David Barrett.
