Back to the harp after a layoff
David, I have been away from the harp for about 6 months. I spent about 8 months last year on the site, achieving LOA Level 1. My wife has taken an interest now. I have found I haven't lost the chops I developed, however, I decided to start back at the beginning, and have progressed rather quickly. I'm really lovin' my Crossover to the point that if I had it to do over, I would buy a Crossover and be done with it. Oh well, I guess I can use the Special 20s and other models on which to practice tuning, gapping, etc. Now to my question. I have added a daily excercise where I go from hole one to hole ten, both inhaling and exhaling. When I get above hole 7, and this is less noticable on the Crossover than the others harps, it seems a bit of a struggle to get the notes from 7-10 to sound clearly, and at a similar volume as the lower notes. Is this just a beginner or near-beginner issue? Last year I don't think I spent much time at all exploring the notes above hole seven.
Thanks,
Greg
Okay, thank you Greg. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself.
Welcome back to the site Greg. Glad to hear that your chops didn't suffer much. Yes, the Crossovers are great harmonicas. You're right, it's a typical issue... in other words, it take some effort and time to play the high notes with good tone. Here is a video you can watch to help with technique... https://www.bluesharmonica.com/faq "My 2 draw and/or high-end notes sounds flat, airy or not at all!"
