Bending hole 3

Hi David
I know it’s a common question but searching through the forum I couldn’t find the exact answers, I can bend most of the notes now but have problems bending to a note on demand except the lowest step bend, and also hole 3 is like trying to suck a potato through a drinking straw which causes a lot of air hissing sounds , just wondering if I’m doing something wrong.
Thanks Roger
Hello Roger. The key for you is to use the wave-like motion I explain in the bending lesson (Study 1). For that 3 draw, start by using the front of your tongue (similar a 6 draw bend) in the front of your mouth (this is for your 3’), then move to using the middle of your tongue in the middle of your mouth (3”). Though some tension is to be expected for someone that’s new to bending, it shouldn’t be excessive. Focus on experimenting with tongue movement (most students don’t raise their tongue enough). Keep at it, it will take a lot of experimenting over time, but you will get it.
