Blow 1 will not sound - Crossover in G
Hi!
Despite opening up the harp to clean, free up any debris, and plink the reeds I've had no luck (this is pretty much the limit of my current harp tech abilities...which up until now has been just enough). This is a newish harp that has played great up until right now. Seemingly still in great shape. The Blow 1 will not sound at all if I go directly after the note. Here and there it will sound if I draw first and then blow (not every time).
Thoughts?

Hi SJ, were you able to resolve your #1 Blow reed issue.
Your HARPSMITH, Kinya
Hi SJ, I'm sorry to hear your #1 BLOW reed is giving you so much grief.
Debris would have been my first call, but you already eliminated that off the Troubleshooting List. My hunch is either the reed turned on it's axis (rivet) causing the free end to come in contact with the reed slot, or the reed Gap is too low for your current playing style.
I am going to rule out a faulty reed because the odds of blowing out a #1 BLOW reed are slim to none.
I suggest you view the HARPSMITH Workbench videos that show the proper Feeler Guages to use for the #1 BLOW reeds. My recommendation is to set your Gap to .007" to .008"
If you can send me an audio file of your issue, I will be able to tighten up my diagnosis.
