Bluegrass Scales, notes or chords to use for beginner jam????

Good Morning!
There is a beginner bluegrass jam session happening on-line in my area. I love bluegrass but I'm uncertain if Ive ever heard harmonica in bluegrass.
If I was going to listen in or prep to play for a song with this online group, what scales, chords or notes would I be most apt to use? Any lessons on your site that would be helpful for a beginner?

I'm sorry Doug, but I'm of no help with bluegrass, I don't have any experience playing it. Glenn Weiser, or Richard Sleigh, come to mind as players that may be able to help you learn how to approach bluegrass.
Your best bet may be to go to the jam and make note of the songs they're playing. Write the names down and when at home, look those songs up and try to learn the melody of each of the songs. Playing the melody is a great place to start. After you learn the melody, you can dig deeper into the chords in each song (look this up online), and you can use the tools that I teach in Music Theory Study 6 to work out harmonica parts based on those chords.
