Hello Ralph. "Blue Midnight" by Little Walter is the most well known/influential/quoted slow blues harmonica instrumental ever recorded... I'm glad I can introduce you to it, it's killer. The bass line played by the second guitar (there were two guitars... one played the bass line and the other did the traditional guitar work) has become a favorite bass line to be used by harmonica players in their slow blues. If a band has experience playing with a harmonica player, then they'll be familiar with the tune, so we just call "Blue Midnight"-like slow blues and we're good to go. That bass line is also used in "Quarter To Twelve," also by Little Walter.
