Blues Creepin' Over Me

Hi David:

I am in LOA3. In the accompaniment section for the song "Blues Creepin' over me", why does 4 blow which is the root of the IV chord work with in the head of chord I in measure 1,2,3,4.

Hello JCWUSMC. It works because it's not being held. Here's a simple rule to follow... if you hold it, it should be a chord tone. If a note is held, and is not a chord tone, it is used to build tension and then is resolved soon after.
