Blues Harmonica in Ska and Reggae
A perfect example of how two styles of music can come together to create something familiar yet unique. Although seldom used, the harmonica feels right at home in ska and reggae, even if only a vacation home. Here's a few of my favorites:
Joe Higgs "Upside Down"
Toots & The Maytals "Reggae Got Soul"
Bob Marley & The Wailers "Talkin' Blues" and "Rebel Music (3 O'Clock Roadblock)"
Big Youth "Some Like It Dread"
Black Uhuru "There is Fire"
Keith Hudson "Melody Maker"
Hi
I'm a big ska and reggae fan and after buying a cd called "Trojan Battlefield" filled with Jamaican R&B I got interested in a harmonicaplayer called Charlie “Organaire” Cameron. Roy Richards, a blind harmonica player also plays on lots of "Treasure Island" and "Studio One" recordings. Charlie Organair's "Little Holiday"is one of my favorites.
