Blues rock harmonica is mostly just blues harmonica, in many cases played more for energy than for finesse and usually by a singer. One exception is John Popper of Blues Traveler, who models his harmonica playing more on guitarists Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix than on traditional blues harmonica.
If you look at players like Bob Dylan or Neil Young, they're coming more from folk tradition and have much less blues in their approach to the harmonica than players like Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, or Chrissie Hynde.
