Book recommendation
Hi David,
Two questions. I was looking for a recommendation for either one of your books or other to read in the evenings when I need to be quiet but would still be interested in continuing my learning. I have read some you've recommended on your site. Also best paths to prepare for some accompaniment playing with my daughter through skype as she is on the other side of the country. She- Washington. Me- Michigan. She doesn't play blues but is more of a plays by ear the music she likes. Should I ask her to learn some blues cords or do I try to adapt to what she does? I'm currently working through Level 4 by Lessons. Thank you.
Thank you Mark... very kind of you to say, and I'm glad you're finding the lessons helpful.
Hello Mark.
This is a hard one... basically you're looking to read, but not play, and pretty much all of my books are exercise-heavy. The books that I feel that you can still gain some knowledge without a tin sandwich in your mouth would be Blues Harmonica Accompaniment Playing, Improvising Blues Harmonica, and Daily Studies for Diatonic Harmonica. Here's the link to my Mel Bay books https://www.melbay.com/Author/Default.aspx?AuthorId=37451
That sounds like great fun. Have her get the book Blues Keyboard Method 1 (also a Mel Bay book), this focusses on chords and basic accompaniment.
