Building the V Chord (“Five” Chord)
Hi David,
Not sure i understand why the 3rd note in the V chord
in C harmonica is F# and not F ?
Where can i find it on the harmonica ? i dont believe its the half band for hole 5
since it should not bring us new note
for example in Harmonica in Key of A it also should be D# and not D ?
Thank you,
Moran bar
The holes for the V Chord are 1 2' 3" 4 and 6 (high end is 8 9'+ 10).
Yes, they are interchangeable with all keys.
P.S., you're not required to use bending in context yet, so it will be 1 4 and 6 for you.
Hello Moran.
Let's focus on the C Harmonica, we do all of our music theory on the C.
The key of G (C Harmonica in 2nd Position) is G A B C D E F# (see Music Theory Study 1). This makes the V Chord D F# A. The 2' bend is Gb, which is the same note as F# (this is called Enharmonic... two note names that share the same pitch).
You're correct, you cannot get F# from hole 5 (without overbending).
