Butter Strut
Holy cow! That Butter Strut track on the harmonicamasterclass YouTube page is a real killer and clearly a great (and unexpected) groove to have in your repertoire. Is it an original composition and, if it is, how did you come up with the head and the song structure? It's very different than any of the blues structures I'm getting used to!
David, when is that rock harmonica book coming out? I know you've been working on it for a while. That's one I'm waiting for.
Not sure. Release dates are always fluid so I really have no idea (even when a date is announced it commonly changes). You can email Mel Bay if you wish at email@melbay.com.
I'm glad you like it. It's an original composition of mine... that was the first time I played it. For this song I focused on where the melody wanted to take me... the chords came later. It was also a collaborative effort... my band (School of the Blues All Start Band is San Jose, California) also had input. I wrote this for new book/CD project for Mel Bay on Rock Harmonica. The main thing to focus on is the use of the BLUES SCALE... that's the key... no notes outside of the 2nd Position Blues Scale (1+ 1' 1 2" 2 3' 4+ 4' 4 5 6+ 6' 6 7+ 8 9 9+).
