Canned Heat Little Walter Cover
Here's something fun that I found.
I'm sure some of you remember the 60's band Canned Heat. They - like The Butterfield Blues Band - straddled the blues and rock genre with well-known rock songs like "Let's Work Together," "On The Road Again," and "Going Up Country." Most of their straight blues work were cover songs, and they really did span the gamut, playing tunes by Sonny Boy Williamson, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells, and Steve Cropper. In later years, they transitioned - like Eric Clapton and Van Morrison - into all blues.
This is an early cover of the Little Walter song "Mean Old World": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46JmehvEsMY
Former Canned Heat lead singer Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson take on this song is almost haunting. His harp playing is raw, giving the overall garage band-style recording some presence. Wilson died young, a result of a troubled mind, but if any of you haven't checked out this legendary band, you really should give them a listen.
Thanks for posting that, only just started to play the harp but always loved the blues and just realising the harp was used in loads of songs.
