Changing Volume control on JT30 Roadhouse
Hi, Greg.
I want to put a CM element into a JT30 Roadhouse body, but of course the volume control needs to be replaced with a more appropriate one. The factory volume control has that crazy threaded brass fitting held by the round brass nut on the outside. Is there a more elegant way to replace it with a "standard" volume control than drilling out the hole to allow the standard threads to be exposed? And if not, how do you tighten the nut down in that hole? I have one of your cool inline volume controls, but I was trying to make this "backup" mic a "stand-alone." If it's too much trouble to replace this VC, I might just leave it in and use is as an on-off switch (I'm not a big volume controller in general, anyway)
Or, maybe I should just be asking, "How much do you charge to do that?"
Thanks,
Mark H.
Hi, Marcos
Thre is no easy way. I have not been able to find a pot in the same form factor that is 100K or 250K, which is what you need for a CM element. I do modify mics for other pots but it can take some machining/fabrication. You CAN simply remove the volume pot from the circuit and use my inline control.
