D harp wont cooperate
Hello David, straight to the point....my A harmonica after 3 years of practice is like an old friend and plays to the best of my abilities.
My well setup D harp makes me sound like its day one all over. I can find the bends but only statically, and to play it is just horrible and my F harp remains untouched just sitting there feeling safe that it wont get played maybe ever.
So my question ..after C harmonica how do i take controll of the higher keys. Iknow there are no secrets or shortcuts but after starting with the A harp most others C,Bb, G, Ab were a pleasure to play around with.
Cheers Brian
That's a great idea to play your old study songs on the higher-keyed harps.
P.S., excess tension (in your mouth, tongue, and throat) can greatly effect your ability to play higher-keyed harps as well, so make sure you're playing relaxed and using a light touch on the face of the harmonica with your tongue.
Hello Brian. For the higher keyed harmonicas it's all about tuning your mouth smaller. Focus on controlling the bends further forward in your mouth, using more of the front of your tongue. Focus on this and you'll get it over time.
