Dip definition
David,
Sorry, I know all these questions are keeping you busy. I have yet another one though. I'm experiencing a bit of confusing determining what a dip is.
When you describe dips for "Feelin' for the Blues" during the lesson and with Joe it seems like a dip is a regular note then bent a half step and then brought up again.
With the KeeAww articulation you suggest, most of the notes get bent slightly but don't go down quite a half step (for me at least).
Finally, when doing the first line of the 5th chorus on Temperature, you say that you should hit the 3 dip with your embouchure already in the bent position. I got the impression from this that a dip is a note that starts at a half step bend and then releases. If that makes sense.
I was wondering if you could try clear this up with brief definition of what a dip is as there seems to be quite a bit in the new song "Feelin' for the Blues" that I'm starting to work on.
Thank you,
Taylor
Yes, Joe struggled with that.
To perform the dip...
Start bent... then quickly release... for example: G to G# quickly (3' to 3 on the A Harmonica). The depth is up to you, but yes, it's commonly a half step bend.
