draw 2?
Hi all, first post here from a new harmonica player! I'm loving it so far and very slowly working through things. I'm not sure if I missed it in the fundamentals lesson but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. For some reason draw 2 is pretty difficult for me (blow 2 is somewhat as well). I'm not sure if I'm not doing something right with my mouth or tongue. Any thoughts on how to get that note sounding not like just air whooshing?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but as I said, I'm just starting out!
ddmolina: As John S. suggests, post in the Ask Instructor David Barrett part of the Forum, and I'm sure he'll give you some good hints and perhaps link some lesson material. Not a dumb question at all. Each player is different, and newcomers often have issues as they begin to learn breathing, using their mouth, etc. When I started eight years ago the first and second holes, blowing and drawing (but not bending at that early time) actually came pretty quickly, but I had real difficulty getting a sound out of a 6th hole! Take things easy (a common mistake is to blow or draw too hard), and be patient. You'll get there!
This issue is dealt with in the FAQ. If that doesn't help post your question to David in his Instruter section. It's a common issue so you will get a helpful response. Good luck.
