Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Worth Messing with?

I have a newer, mexican made Fender Deluxe. Wondering if this would make a suitable practice amp. I'm just getting into using amps. which is a blast so far. But if I can hold off on buying a new amp and use this one for a while, maybe with some simple tube swaps, a pedal or something, that would be cool. Or maybe it's not worth messing with and I should just hold off till I can pick up a purpose built amp.

I've been experimenting with the settings but am completely new to all this. BTW, I realize an amp is no fix for lack of technique. I'm not trying to jump ahead and short cut the effort required for solid chops or technique. But it seems like the amp adds a whole nuther dimension to the instrument which is fun to explore in and of itself. Plus it kind of helps illuminate some of the nuances and possibilities available on the harp. I find going back and forth between the amp and acoustic playing to be both rewarding and enlightening.

So any help with settings, mod's and basically trying to get the most out of what I currently have would be greatly appreciated.
