Formula for Diatonic Harmonica Note Layout
Hello David
Now i am understanding the C harp layout...ie CEG CEG and DGBDFA along with little quotes used to always remember them is there a formula i can use to then know all the other positions.
To be clear i mean your PDF Diatonic Harmonica Note Layout . memorising the C harp positions should be the key to knowing all the others if only i could work out how to get there.
To be even clearer i mean to know the other harmonicas ie key of A key of G etc ,perhaps its not even necessary but looking at the Diatonic Harmonica Note Layout pdf i wondered if there is a way of knowing all that information.
I have studied the pdf many times looking for the pattern, not even including the hidden or bent notes but one small clue just isnt jumping out to me , as always the questions asked tell you where i am in my progress i guess.
This is a very good site and although i dont know much yet i have learned so so much in just a few months.
Cheers Brian
I’m glad that tongue blocking is going well for you.
Good idea to watch the videos multiple times. Each time you go through music theory, more understanding comes.
Hello Brian... I'm glad you're enjoying your studies.
This is taught in the Music Theory lessons, which starts here https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/music_theory_study_1.
There is a pattern... you'll find this in the lessons.
The quick answer is that you don't need to memorize more than one harmonica. Since they're intervalically the same, to know one harmonica, you know all harmonicas. In your lessons you'll learn about Scale Degrees. Thinking in scale degrees repllaces the note names with the positions of the scale (C D E turns into 1 2 3 for example). So, eventiallly you'll think more in scale degrees than actual pitches, so it really is the same for every harmonica.
