French Tuner & Five Cent Tuning Tool Review
I recently purchased a combo pack with these two items. The "French Tuner" is a MUST have for tuning reed plates off the comb. So helpful and the stress it saves you from a half-ass assembly everytime you adjust or tune a reed will add years to your life.
The "Five Cent Tuning Tool" is used for reed lifting and scraping. It's....meh. In other words there are better options like the mini tuning table discussed in the "Equipment" videos portion of the website or found here http://tuningtable.com/ and my favorite is the Richard Sleigh Draw Scraper Tool found in this pricey but fairly well rounded tool kit http://rockinronsmusicsd.com/index.php?_a=product&product_id=220
So in summary: "French Tuner" -MUST HAVE for tuning off the comb, "Five Cent Tuning Tool"-PASS(unless you like the portability of it, I found it overpriced and the lesser of many better options)

Andrew's five cent tuner is offered as a tool to quickly bring a harmonica
that is slightly (5 cents) off back into tune, the french tuner does a nice
job for octaves. I have always used binder clips to quickly reassemble a
harp for checking tuning. I also sound a reed plate by holding it to my
mouth and blowing/drawing thru the slot. The company Richard Sleigh
employs to manufacture his draw scraper and sizing tool also make
precision surgical tools. Considering the the work that goes into his
tools Richard's prices are very fair. Andrew has great prices too. His
combs are great, VERY flat and pre-drilled, and I can't beat his prices
for parts. I was proud to see that Ron was now offering Andrews wares.
