Golden Melody availability concerns
Hi I'm relatively new to the harmonica but as with anything else I involve myself in, I try to learn to do my own maintenance/repair and or mods. I've only tried several different harmonicas (diatonic), but seem to like the Golden Melody. A friend told me heard Hohner was going to stop making them. Curiously enough, a few days later when I inquired as to backorder status of several out of stock keys through Musicians Friend, I was told that their information was "discontinued by manufacturer" and that when the "in stock" keys were gone they would not be replaced. I emailed Hohner a couple days ago about this but haven't as yet gotten a response. Does anyone know anything about this? And also, does any manufacturer at all make reed plates that will fit the Golden Melody. Or maybe individual reeds (other than from another GM) that will work? This is an excellent site David. Thanks.
Benootz, take what you've seen on Musician's Friend with a grain of salt. They sometimes seem to confuse "product not available" with "product discontinued." They did the same thing with the Marine Band Crossover and freaked a few people out, causing Steve Baker to issue a statement on at least one harp site.
jjudson hit it on the nose...
"GMs are here to stay, and we have no plans at present to discontinue any harps. MF says that when they should not, and we are working on that with them.
Thanks,

I'll ask Hohner and get back to you if they have any light to shed on this.
