Pretty much an echo of previous comments. Good rhythm and use of chords and tongue slaps. Its a long enjoyable journey. Keep at it with the suggestions in mind!!
Jimmy , I like how you slip those fat chords in there throughout to tune. Nice laid back jam! Dave will have you groovin it along as you follow the Master Plan laid out on this site and in his lesson books - I have a ton a work, "I mean fun" to do myself. There always seems another rut to dig out of....thank God that the digging is fun and exciting!!!
Good effort - solid rhythm throughout and I like your use of chords and the shakes at the end. I agree with David: if you redo it, stick to a simple melodic idea for each chorus.
Thank you for your submission JimmyBB. You're on the right track! The opening chorus is your head, the main theme, and though you had more fills than I would normally like to hear, I can hear what you're going for here.
After the head your instrumental doesn't have any structure or theme to it... it's not taking me on a journey. I know you're relatively new to the harmonica and have not developed you tongue blocking and bending much, but you have a good rhythmic feel on the harmonica and could take this instrumental to the next step after competition.
Review the following lessons... thew will help big time in what I'm speaking of here...
1) Improvising Study 1 - Lessons on chorus forms to help you understand the melodic goal for each chorus
2) Improvising Study 2 - Focus Notes... this is what will help the body of your instrumental... this is your priority
3) Improvising Study 7 - Section 4, Soloing Themes... this will reinforce what I'm speaking of for the body of your instrumental
So, these are my suggestions for you to go to the next step. Thank you for submission, keep up the great work!
