What style of music?
Some of Miles Davis' stuff isn't too fast or difficult (how he uses it, though is another thing).
Some of the funkier sax players, like maybe Stanley Turrentine or Big Jay McNeely or Louis Jordan could be worth stealing from.
And, of course, the early Duke Ellington Band (about 1926 to 1930), especially, all those growling, wah-wahing, bluesy players like trombonist Tricky Sam Nantion and trumpeters Artie Whetsol and Bubber Miley. But don't ignore clarinetist Barney Bigard or alto saxophonist Johnny Hodges. All tasty stuff, and relatively simple and blues based during that period.
Then, of course, there is Louis Armstrong. If you listen to Louis, the listen to harmonica player Blues Birdhead playing first position on "Mean Low Blues" (1927) you'll hear a lot of Louis influence (and the first know recorded overblow).
