How do I change the connector?
Hello Mr. Heumann-
I bought a vintage microphone on ebay a few days ago mainly for display purpose. I want to change the original connector to a 1/4 inch 6.35mm jack so that I can use it with a guitar cable. Is this something easy to do? Could you briefly run through the steps? And my other question is how do you polish the mic shell without damaging the chrome.
Thank you and happy holidays!

Hi, New PlayerWhat you need is called a Switchcraft Type 332A adapter. It looks like this, screws onto your mic and provides a 1/4" female socket.
Another alternative is to use a proper cable with a screw-on connector for the mic and 1/4" male to plug into your amp or pedal. I prefer this because it is much more flexible and gives you better freedom of movement. The adapter and the guitar cable plugged into it amount to a 6" rigid appendage hanging down from the mic. Lots of players do that - but I like to move freely when I play. I use a 20' screw-on cable, and carry a 332 adapter in my bag as a backup in case of cable failure. You can buy the adapter and/or cable from me on the Ordering and Pricing page of my web site.
Cheers
