deer teacher
After listening "Blues for Mr B "album, I realize I whant to explore this kind of sound. I really love. inside blues fundamental section lesson 1, you said Gary Smith have a huge fat tone.I know Im new with amplifier but can you tell me what is the primary words I need to learn and understant if I whant obtain this sound. I think its not a good idea for now to ask you to much informations about that. I just whant to understand where to start with my setup. I use jamup pro software with shure 520dx so I can configure the Bias. Eq, preamp, tone stack, power amp, cab etc....
I ask you this question becauseI whant to maximize my time inside lesson
thank you
You can get an amplifier and microphone any time you want. I was more saying that your studies are the most important element... your big sound will come from you, not the gear. So, with that said, get the gear whenever you would like... it's fun to mess around with :-)
Great
Hello Mr Bourgeois. Huge fat tone starts with your technique, so continue working hard on your studies, especially the tongue block studies. In particular, techniques like two-note combinations, slaps, flutters, pulls, octaves and vibrato are important. Working on your cupping is also important. Generally speaking, a tube amp from the 1950's will get the job done for you... most commonly one with a 10" speaker. The Gibson series of amplifiers are particularly prized by harmonica players (the GA series is very nice). Masco heads paired with speaker cabinets are very toneful as well. Keep up your studies, they will pay off.
