i cant seem to tongue block draw 3
Dear David Barrett,
I am learning 'walk with me'.
on the second chorus video, it gives exercises where you need to suck and blow hole 3.
Every time i try to blow or suck, on hole 3 it doesnt sound normal however i am not sure if i am bending it.
Any advice?
Thank you for yor time
Hello Gabekar. The general assumption is that it is the player, since this is a very common issue for new players. Watch the first video on the FAQ page (link in the main navigation bar above) and work on what’s taught there. With focused practice you should get good results over a couple of weeks.
P.S., there is a quick check to see if it’s you or the hole. Place your left finger over holes 1 and 2 and your right finger over holes 4 and above. Pucker up (no tongue on the harmonica) and blow and draw softly into hole 3. See if the reeds sound any different. Another way to do it is to use painter’s tape (leaves no sticky residue on the comb of the harmonica) on the face of the harmonica and poke a hole into hole 3 (a pencil or pen does the job) and blow/draw into the hole to check it.
sorry, now that try by just blowing into one hole, I think the whole is out of tune.
do you now anything that might help to see if the whole is not tuned or im not blowing into it properly?
thank you very much
