Improvising Study 1 - Ex. 2.1
Hi David. I'm working on Level 2 and have diverted temporarily into the Level 4 material ( Improvising Study 1) per your suggestion. In EX. 2.1, the last 2 notes are written as +3, +3 and as you state in your video, you play them as 2,2. I've been experimenting a little and find that the sequence +3,2 is a combination that really "gets it". I think it's because the slap on the last note involves the 1,2 draw instead of repeating the 1,2,3 blow. (It also avoids the repeating 1,2 draw.) I realize this is not the intent of this particular lesson but i hear a noticable difference and the +3,2 sequence really sounds the nicest to me. I anticipate your response will be to do whatever suits you but I'm wondering if you have ever done this and what you think of it. By the way, you are absolutely the best instructor on the planet. Thanks. Bill.
Hello Bill, and thanks asking... it's a good idea to double-check. In this case, yes, go for what you think sounds best (and is easiest for you to play in time).
