Interesting Mic Site
I ran a quick Google search on the Electro Voice mics you talked about in the previous thread and stumbled across this site:
http://www.coutant.org/contents.html
It's got info on just about every microphone you can think of - including sound samples, data sheets, and schematics.
After peeking at this site, I can see that my day tomorrow will be shot.
No connection, just blah-blah-blah...
Cool site... I haven't seen this one before. You're probably already aware of my other site, HarmonicaMasterclass.com. I have a vintage mic pages that I've been adding to for the past 15 years... http://www.harmonicamasterclass.com/vintage_collection.htm
Yes Indeed, the Coutant site is a great resource for microphone data, history -and purty pitchures. Ah yes, the WESTERN ELECTRIC No. 47: Hard to cup, life-threatening voltages, builds strong forearms... Makes the EV 630 look like a lightweight. -Fritz
It's the Western Electric No. 47-A, built in 1928. It weighs 12 pounds, has a VACUUM TUBE, and requires 200 volts to operate! It's one of the first condenser microphones made:
