It Takes Three
Hi David,
This is gonna sound very cheeky, but, is there a backing track somewhere for the above? I'm working on Accompaniment playing study 6 and was hoping to be able to record myself doing all three parts, as per your demo.
Thanks,
Graham
Sorry for interfering, and this is a bit off topic, but if you have some skills with a computer and some audio editors, you can make your own backing tracks.
For It Takes Three, you need some shuffle in F at around (if I measured it right) 133 bpm.
There's a shuffle in G backing track published with the license CC Attribution (so you can use it and modify it provided you give credit) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5xCVtkOPVc. This track has a precise timing of 105 bpm which makes it really convenient for splicing it into measures and choruses. You can use those as the building blocks for your backing track: just add as many copies of the choruses as you need, adjust the beginning and the ending (the track includes 4 measures with breaks you can copy and paste to) and glue it all together.
I've done so in Bandlab and made this project, which you can fork to make your own backing track from it (you can create a bandlab account for free, even log in with your Google or Facebook account, and edit music projects in your browser): https://www.bandlab.com/mmarquez/sample-backing-track-for-it-takes-three-bff43e12?revId=7b0d588c-3274-ee11-9937-000d3a41ec2a
The project currently has the 4 measure intro/breaks plus 3 choruses (including and ending part), but you can fork it and extend it with as many choruses you need by copying the choruses included in one of its tracks (which is conveniently muted so you use it only as a scratch space from which you copy the choruses etc.). I saw the It Takes Three score indicates several break sections plus player solos, so I don't know how many choruses the backing track would need, but at this point is just a matter of adding as many as necessary with the provided building blocks.
It's not the real thing, but it is as close as you will get for free :)
This is a very valuable input, it's going to be useful! Thank you mmarquez
Hello Graham. No worries, I get it, having a jam track is nice. Unfortunately, no, there is no jam tracks for any of the songs on the It Takes Three release.
