Joe Filisko Train Chugging Pre War Harmonica
I have a CD of yours called The History of the Harmonica ,it's a great CD I love listening to it.
On it at the beginning Joe Filisko says something like "If I had my way I would make it compulsory for all harmonica players to be able to do train chugging sounds", like the old pre war De Ford Bailey stuff .
I wondered will he be teaching teaching this kind of stuff on your site web site? It would be great if he did, I haven't seen many lessons on the pre war stuff
I have been trying to do some train chugging on & off for years but it's never got there. It sounds more like a Blackpool tram than a big steam train
Please extend my thanks to Joe Filisko for his excellent train sounds series. No one has ever bothered to delve deeply into this complex and fascinating subject before Joe. I'd love to learn more pre-war blues and fox chase sounds (though I disapprove of animal abuse). How about Lost John and Ice Water Blues someday? Suppose those would take a lot of lessons to explain.
Keep them coming Joe!
I'm glad you're liking it. Yes, I'm very happy to have Joe on board and he just sent me two more in the series, so yes, we'll keep on rollin'.
Yes, Joe has been writing material for the site... in fact that was part of the reason I was in Chicago last week (he lives there). It will be slow coming though... he's very busy teaching and performing, and he records when he's between tours. So yes, but please be patient. Glad you like the CD. You know he has contributor lessons already?... look to the bottom left column under contributor... you'll want to watch those videos as prep (that's why they are there... to prep students for his lessons).
