John Popper
Hi Winslow, last night I caught the Blues Traveler concert featuring John Popper in downtown San Jose (prox 2,000 fans). I was pleased to see that John kept his weight under control. His wonderful vocals and harmonica playing were classic Popper.
John continues to play Hohner (out of the box I suspect) Special 20 harmonicas. In fact, he tossed three of them into the audience --if only I stood another 8' to my right ==>
His amplification came from bridging a small Black Tolex Fender amp, sitting on top of a Bogner (12" speaker?) amplifier.
My memory is telling me that you had interviewed John a couple of decades ago ... so maybe you can riddle me the answer to my query; why the hell is he hefting such a beefy (size of a Buick Skylark ;o) effects controller--and not rely on stomp pedals? Heck, the cable alone weighs more than me!

I PMd him on Facebook but haven't yet got a resonse; he's touring.
It's been awhile since I talked gear with John Popper, but I remember he evolved a taped-together rig with perhaps tw mics in it (not sure about that detail). From the photo it looks like it's gottena bit sleeker. Im in contact with him and can relay your query.
