Kinder Anti Feedback- Jon H?
I was just wondering if you got one of the units. I have both the "blue box" and a Harp King amp and i think the advice you got earlier was very accurate. You can kill feedback, but I do agree that there is a limiting factor when it comes to tones. That deep "creamy" sound that David demonstrated in his amp video is something that the blue box matched with a bassman can come close to, but I think it always a work in progress. On the other side the issue of being heard on stage becomes much less of a problem with the blue box and totally "leaves the building" if you have a Harp King 6x10.
Bob: You're in good company using the same amp as Rod, Rick Estrin, and Dennis Gruenling. They are all tone monsters. I understand that the mic to use with that amp is an Astatic with an MC151 element. I know Fritz Hasenpusch has some great mics that would work.
Personally I don't have an anti-feedback but I do have some friends that do. Jim Johnson has both an Kinder pedal and the 6x10. We've messed around with the pedal on his re-issue bassman and got some killer "Harpking" sound out of it. I haven't tried it with the Masco but I really don't think the Masco is a good fit for a loud amp situation. The other amp I have is a Kalamazoo 2 and that's the same story. I've been saving my pennies for a big amp but I don't know which one I'll get.
I have an interesting story about the harp king. When Dave was over in the Music Tree we all brought a bunch of different amps to test tone. The "King" was one of the amps. As we began to play it at a lower volume the tone wasn't so good but Dave inched the volume up and the tone got better and better. It really kicked in when all the acoustic guitars in the shop began to hum. The thing was so loud that the plate windows in the front of the store were rattling. Makes me wonder what Rod sounds like with two "King's" hooked together!
