Lesson with a Pro
I have a lesson with a top level pro passing through my hometown , what questions would you ask?
This can be challenging. Some artists are very articulate and can be very specific on what you need to do to better your playing... some are not... not because they are necessarily less intelligent, but because they either don't think in a way that breaks things down to their elements or they just don't have much teaching experience (or they just haven't put the time in that it takes to be a competent teacher). Here are some questions/actions you may want to try if the artist doesn't have a plan of attack...
1) Please listen to me play some things and give me your thoughts...
2) What are the areas in a player that YOU feel are important? Let's work on them...
3) What songs do you recommend I study? Let's dig into them...
4) Show me some of your favorite techniques...
5) Show me some cool licks (this is not the best way of spending your time, but if you're out of ideas it's a good way to spend extra time).
Have fun, take a picture and record your lesson!
Cool... Mark is one of the more intelligent artists out there, as you've seen on the site. Items 1-5 would still be great... focusing towards the top of the list first.
is this a "half-off" sale?
just depends on who it would be and what his specialty is...
