Level 2 solo harmonica study 2
Hi david,
I'm working on exercises 1.1 to 1.3. My question is:
When I pull and I've to switch from a blow to a draw note, like from 3+ to 3, How I've to deal with the slap?
I start with the tongue off the armonica. I start breating as I move the tongue toward the harmonica and I finish with my tongue blocking single note 3+
After that, I find myself starting draving air when my tongue is still on the face of the harp. As I move it from the armonica It sounds like a small slap before I go to pull on 3+
Is this a mistake ? In other words, Do we have to stop air movement before removing the tongue to avoid that small slap? In this case the sequence would be:
1) start off the armonica
2) start breating while moving the tongue toward the face of it
3) tongue blocking the single note
4) Stop blowing and wait to have moved off the tongue from the combo, without drawing air while moving off the tongue.
5) go to step 2.
I hope have been clear with this question :)
Thanks
Good morning luckyharp. We'll get this figured out. I believe your questions is how to perform a draw slap and then a blow slap. Yes, each slap has its own air. The tongue starts off the harmonica, the air starts (sounding the chord) as the tongue travels down to the face of the harmonica, finishing with a single note. The air stops. You then repeat this process for the next note/slap, whether it's a blow or a draw. Did this answer your question?
