Little Walter - Blue And Lonesome
Hey,
i'm listening to alot of Muddy Waters and Little Walter lately. And its pretty easy to find Stuff and How To'S on YouTube to different songs and licks and so on.
But i cant find anything related to Harmonica about the Song "Blue and Lonesome"

Im talking about the part he is playing at 1:40min
What Key of Harmonica is he playing in? And how does he "create" this sound? Tongue splits? I think he uses alot of flutter but thats all i could figure out at my state of knowledge.
I would really appreciate any help i can get.

There are at least two versions of this song. The first take, and one where it sounds like they splice back to the vocal in the middle of his solo - this one sounds like the spliced version.
Walter is playing splits with his lips covering a four-hole spread, and blocking the two middle holes with his tongue.
He's also moving his tongue from side to side -not on and off. I call this a rake, as he's raking his tongue from side to side, repeatedly and rapidly, to create the texture you hear.
Here's Take 1 with a full verse of chromatic solo that starts at 2:48.

On some records Walter swtiched between C chromatic and diatonic. But not this one - it's all a C chromatic.
Sounds like a C chromatic played in in third position, doing splits and flutters with his tongue.
