L.L. Bean Edition Hohner..?
Winslow,
I was given a harmonica today that had "been laying around for about 10 years collecting dust". It is a MS - series harp, has never been played, and L.L. Bean is printed on the top of the box (its a black plastic box). The same script L.L. Bean is printed on the upper cover plate. On the lower cover plate it says:
"Exclusively Made for L.L. Bean by
HOHNER
Made in Germany"
The comb is wood, and is not painted black on the backside at all. The coverplates are black and the L.L. Bean script is a Goldish color and has a "wrinkle-paint" texture.
The sticker on the bottom of the box has model #: 503/20 MS C L.L. Bean
There is also a barcode and several other reference numbers.
Any idea of the story behind this harp and when Hohner produced this edition for L.L. Bean? I've tried searching everywhere for information and haven't come up with anything!!
Hohner produced a few different MS harps for different retail brands, in the 1990s as I recall. At the time Hohner were trying to push the MS series as the future of their diatonic line. They also made an MS harp for Tiffany with sliver cover plates:
