Hi David,

I'm a little confused about what to do in two tests of LOA 4.

First is the improvising test, what are the five chorus forms (seven with three forms of B)? Are they AAA, AAA with fills, AAB, AAB with fills, AB AC (B=contrast, B=slight change, B=sequence)?

I can choose any measure for A or should play A in 1, 2 and 4 measure?

Second is the Accompaniment study 4 test, what i have to do? Should i improvising?

Thanks and Happy New Year!!!

Answer

Happy New Year pasteto. Answers below...

1) Yes... AAA, AAA with fills, AAB, AAB with fills, A B/A C (your choice of B=contrast, B=slight change, B=sequence). Yes, you can choose any measure for A.

2) Play under Jon Lawton's vocals and play fills between his vocals to the song "I Want You With Me." You are improvising, showing me that you have learned what's safe to play under and between the vocals. If you're not sure what to do, review Lessons 2, 3 and 4.

I look forward to your submission when you're ready.
